Song lyrics for a cozy night

I just thought I would quickly share some lyrics I have written in my notes app the past couple weeks. They are messy and still being worked on, but I love seeing people's writing before it's "finished" so I thought I would share. Here ya go:

wake me up:

wake me up

wake me up

when you feel like the remnants of a home

wake me up

wake me up

like the cold hitting your nose

and I never saw you this clearly

reflection staring

I never knew myself to this kind

of vibrant feeling

you're coffee late at night

I don’t want to close my eyes

swimming in the pavement

glossy shine, you're my kind

wake me up

wake me up

I'll stir the pancake batter

wake me up

wake me up

desire and you, all that matter

and I never saw you in this light

it's not harsh like those other kinds

that I have seen before

just open the door

I'd like to stay remembering you:

the clock ticks by

and I think it’s finally hit the time

to admit I had some growing up to do

thinking I had it all figured out

showed how little I really knew

tippy toe turning on my wooden floor

it’s funny how you always cross my mind

years later, I don’t think of you in shame

the hues of our love faded from red

to a purplish blue, it doesn’t hurt to know

you anymore

forgetting you adds up the seconds and minutes and hours

so I stopped trying and the leaves piled over our storybook

pages and pages floating in the wind

I’ll read our story with pride

how we sprouted green even with the soil dry

i finally remember you

forgetting isn’t the goal

as long as the pages turn, fold,

and the chapter ends.

I’d like to stay remembering you.

but I still know we have to go

see you in the storybook that’s floating downstream

don’t let the water bleed the ink

you flash by again

and I know you're on the chapter

where we found something new

I’d like to stay remembering you.

Deep love,

Nina Lee
